History:
The Ladies' Hill Memorial Tournament was created in honour of Isabel Berrian Teeter Hill, following her death in 1991, by her three daughters Judy Brush, Lucretia Riker and Louise Davis.
Isabel Teeter was born in 1910 in Englewood, N.J. She spent her summers in Norfolk on Mountain Road at the home her parents, Dr. John & Marie Teeter, built in 1900. After their death she and her husband, Edward Hill inherited the house, and used it as a summer home away from their house in New York City.
'Bibs', as she was known to her friends, played golf from childhood, winning her first tournament at the age of 16 at the Norfolk Downs Golf Course in 1926. She was very much an integral part of the Norfolk Country Club playing golf, tennis, bridge, and dancing her heart out with her husband at the dinner dances.
Above all, she was an avid golfer, playing until the age of 81. For those who knew her, she was renowned for her good sportsmanship.
The Hill Memorial is the only tournament exclusively for women, other than the Ladies Club Championship. It has become a special event to all who have played in it.
